Accutane Lawsuits

Accutane, the severe acne drug that treats nodular acne has been found to cause severe abdominal pain in some patients. Because of this, there have been numerous lawsuits filed alleging cases of Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and even Inflammatory Bowel Disorder. There have been cases where the main ingredients in Accutane have caused issues requiring surgery and the removal of sections of the rectum and colon. One of the main issues with Accutane is the fact that the severe side effects don’t always show up until years after taking the medication.

Accutane’s main ingredients only show up in blood for a few days after taking the prescription. However, with severe health related issues being found years later, the lawsuits state that the makers of Accutane knew about this before sending it out to the public. The lawsuits say that since the company knew about the additional side effects, and the severity thereof, that Accutane manufacturers should pay the people that had to suffer needlessly.

If you or someone you love has had any adverse side effects from using Accutane, you should contact a lawyer immediately. Each state has a different time limit that the suits must be filed under, so you need to check if you are within the time frame set up under your state. The effects of Accutane are extremely serious and if you are having any of the above issues after taking Accutane, you should contact a personal injury lawyer.

Accutane has had a lot of success in people with nodular acne, but the risks have seemed to outweigh any success. Nodular acne mostly affects adolescents; therefore, you must be extra careful that your child is following the prescription directions to the letter. You should also sit down with your doctor and your child to go over every aspect of this medication. If you have any questions, make sure you ask them before getting the prescription. There are other medications that you can try. You should try them and only take Accutane as a last possible resort. There is no reason to take something you aren’t prepared for.
