A lot of people have a severe acne condition known as nodular acne. When they visit their doctor, they will be given different kinds of medication in the hopes that it will clear this acne up. However, sometimes it doesn’t work out that way. When all other medications have failed to show any results, Accutane is usually prescribed. Since this is a last resort medicine, there are serious side effects that you should be aware of. These side effects can include things like itchy eyes and sore joints along with bouts of depression and other effects.
Accutane may also cause more severe and, possibly life threatening, conditions such as Ulcerative Colitis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and Crohn’s Disease.. With such severe possibilities, you should be extra careful when taking this medication. If you have any history of heart or blood diseases, such as diabetes, you should inform your doctor before taking this medication as it could cause you severe health issues. You should know your families’ health issues regarding mental illness and heart conditions as well because it can trigger something within you after taking the medication.
One of the biggest issues is with birth defects. Accutane can cause severe disfiguring birth defects and even fetal death. Because of the issues with birth defects, this medication should never be taken by pregnant women or women that may become pregnant. You should not donate blood while taking this medication, either, as it will rest in your own blood for days after taking each pill. The manufacturers of Accutane suggest waiting at least 30 days after stopping the medication before donating blood.
There have been some reports of depression and various other mental aspects along with accounts of suicides from taking this medication. If you have any mental issues such as depression, you should not take this medication. If you have taken this medication and have undergone any of these severe side effects, then you should contact a lawyer to see if you are able to get monetary awards. You should be aware that states have different time limits for filling.
